About Us

Kingsway’s mission statement is:
• Living for Jesus
• Transforming Lives
• Building Community
We aim to outwork this mission through prayer and God’s direction working through a variety of events and activities throughout the week. We have a heart to be an inter-generational church and you can read all about our different clubs and groups in the Church Life section of our website.
Our church is a member of the denomination Assemblies of God and we come under the Evangelical Alliance doctrine of belief. We have modern worship interspersed with older songs and the occasional hymn! We believe in the outworking of the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout the different ministries in the church. Prayer is foundational for all we do at Kingsway Church.

Wombourne Pentecostal Church was planted in 1984 and met at various locations within the village. During 1991 the Conway Squash Club went on the market and the dozen families who attended the church decided after much prayer and walking around the building to make an offer which was accepted! A mortgage was organised and there was sacrificial giving by the families involved at that time. Some of the people who gave to this project are still in our church today and we are so grateful for their step of faith and generous hearts!
Our building is located in the heart of Wombourne, positioned in the corner of the village car-park. Pastor Jem Payton did a fantastic job converting the sports facility into a useable church building and began the incredible journey of developing the church until his retirement in 2008. In 2011 Pastor John Price joined the church and continued with the church transformation, knowing that this would help in the outworking of our church mission.

Pastor Deb Chamberlain joined us in 2020 and she has helped shape the way we use our building over the last few years. We have an incredible church facility and this helps us to outwork the mission God has given us! This is our base from which we are able to equip the church congregation to reach out to others and show them the love of Jesus!
We now meet for our Sunday morning services in our new downstairs worship hall which was once two courts of the old squash club! We have recently added an extension, giving more room for our Sunday worship gatherings and monthly prayer meetings. Upstairs has now become our toddlers and kids Venue and is also used mid-week for our New Horizons group! Upstairs is also where we have our Food Bank storeroom where we collect food from our church members and then distribute to those in need. Our youth have their own Youth Lounge downstairs next to our church offices and our Uniform Club storage is used to help local families with school clothing needs. Our church is used throughout the year for community events such as our Winter Wonderland, Easter Trail and Scarecrow Hunt – we love being able to reach out to those who live and work in our locality!
We are excited about all that lies ahead for the future of Kingsway Church. We seek God’s blessing and direction for our inter-generational family as we live for Jesus, transform lives and build community.
